With a breathtaking countryside view in Hopkinton, Rhode Island, this wonderful home badly needed an outdoor space to match its charm and scenic location.

For this family, their backyard deck in Richmond, RI, was a place of countless memories, but years of wear and tear had started to take their toll on the structure.

In a beautiful neighborhood of North Providence, RI, a homeowner was dealing with a decaying, unsafe deck. The structure, facing significant wear and tear, was not only visually unpleasing but structurally unsound. Its narrow posts, warping stairs without risers, and faded surfaces were a stark contrast against the tidy siding of the house.

The family’s initial deck was a small, weathered wooden structure that lacked elegance and appeal.

The client wanted to solve two main problems with their Richmond countryside home: accessibility and a seamless connection between their outdoor living spaces. They were looking for an elegant solution that would not only enhance the beauty and functionality of their home but also provide a comfortable, accessible space for elderly members and guests with limited mobility.

The homeowner had several unsafe decks and under-utilized spaces, as well as a pressing need to upgrade safety measures for aging family members. Keeping the rustic aesthetic of the property was also important for the family, and thus began our quest for a balance between safety, functionality, and beauty.
