The Challenge:
For this family, their backyard deck in Richmond, RI, was a place of countless memories, but years of wear and tear had started to take their toll on the structure. The deck, constructed from traditional wood, was showing clear signs of decay. What’s more, the existing deck design didn’t embrace the changing elevation of the yard, creating a clear divide between the deck and surrounding nature. The family yearned for a seamless integration with their lush backyard.
The Solution:
Our vision was to create a fluid transition from the house’s interior to the exterior, replacing the worn-out deck with a multi-level composite deck. This design gently rises in elevation towards the house, conforming to the landscape and blending seamlessly into its surroundings. We utilized industry-leading Deckorators composite decking to ensure a durable and appealing surface.
A special touch to the transformation was the addition of a pergola on one side of the deck, covering a built-in deck bench, creating a perfect spot for the family to relax and enjoy a cool beverage under the shade. We installed an arbor on the other side of the deck, adding an aesthetically pleasing element and providing shade during sunny days.
In the end, what we achieved was more than just a deck—it was a transformation into a better lifestyle. Where there was once a flat platform now stands a dynamic, multi-level composite deck bursting with possibility and style.
